1898 Charles Wilson Residence

This little bungalow, located at 911 N. Ochoa, is one of the oldest standing residences in El Paso. Erected in 1898 and designed by architect Ernest Krause, the little building looks a bit raggety these days - but that's ok, it's not her fault. Is it the oldest standing residence in ELP? Probably not - but it's close.

The home was erected during a unique explosion of residential builds, led by architects Krause, Edward Kneezell, the firm of Buchanan & Allen, George King, M. Hughes, R.C. Ball and a few others. Many of these pre-1900 houses salt-and-pepper the area surrounding downtown El Paso, but as time passes they are becoming more difficult to identify and are becoming more rare with new building expansions, like the entertainment faciltiy that may be built in the Duranguito area.

Hopefully, this uniquely designed bungalow, with plans drawn by one of El Paso's MOST iconic architects, still has a long life ahead.
