First Owls Club - Albert Steinfeld Mansion, Tucson

One of Henry Trost's most beautiful structural designs, the 1900 Owls Club Building stands today after a late 1970s restoration and is in amazing condition. A mere two doors south of the Second Owls Club,  it was purchased in 1904 by Albert Steinfeld, one of Tucson's foremost businessmen  and is known historically as the Albert Steinfeld Mansion.

Built by contractor and future Tucson Mayor Levi Howell Manning (1864-1935), the Mansion is a Spanish Revival - Mission eclectic blend, with hipped Spanish tile roofing and a tasteful central Mission parapet. It features a blizzard of finial decorations created by Herr Zierold, a H.C. Trost employed artist and sculptor who eventually followed Trost to El Paso, where he sculpted many of the decorations for the Hotel Paso del Norte and the Cortez Buildings.

The pictures below were taken on Thursday, October 22, 2020, and just like the Second Owls Club photos here at sketchclub.net they do not do this beauty justice.
